ATC TT Summer Series

With a new lockdown coming into place this evening, and heavier restrictions placed on us for the coming weeks, we are remaining positive at ATC and thankful that we have such an amazing coaching team ready to keep us motivated and inspired to train within our boundaries and look after our well-being.

With the introduction of our Virtual Turbo training session last week, and the success it’s brought in terms of sparking a motivation to keep our group interactions and training alive by whatever means we can, we found ourselves reminiscing about our recent TT series in Athlone.

As the restrictions lifted this Summer and we could begin to meet with social distancing, our coaches were keen to provide a challenge that brushed the cobwebs off and allowed club members to not only take part in a group training session, but in the form of an opportunity to race as an individual and push those boundaries.

The result? Our ATC TT Summer Series!

Over the course of a few weeks, members took on 10k, 16k and 24k distance courses on the main Athlone to Ballinasloe road. With good road surfaces, lots of space with a hard shoulder all the way and no junctions to contend with, the racing was fierce with some very impressive times being posted.

The chance to actually race, face the challenge and experience the post event adrenaline instead of just going through the motions lifted spirits hugely and put a spark back in our motivation.

So. As we enter this difficult time and navigate through the restrictions on our club, our families and friends, our community and the sport in general, we remain positive and hopeful that at the very least we can continue to support each other at ATC on a virtual level and use our training to keep both our bodies and minds active and healthy; and in doing so, we will be ready for the day these restrictions lift and we can don the club colours and race again!

Stay safe everyone!
