Lough Cutra Castle provided the beautiful scenic backdrop to a tough and hotly contested National Championship Aquabike event last weekend, which saw Athlone Triathlon Club’s very own Coach Olivia McCartin put in an incredible performance in the women’s race earning her the first place podium and the title of National Aquabike Champion 2021.
The Olympic distance race saw Olivia complete her 1.5km swim in a superb time of 28mins 21secs and together with a swift transition and expertly executed performance on the 40km bike route, she sailed across the finish line in a total time of 1hr 41mins 56secs clinching the title.
An outstanding athlete, a fierce competitor, a passionate, inspiring and dedicated coach and the most modest and humble member of our club; we are beyond proud to have this legend as our role-model, club-mate and friend.
